USS Farrenholt

USS Farrenholt

USS Farenholt (DD-491) was a Benson-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II. She was the second ship named for Admiral Oscar Farenholt. It was launched 19 November 1941 by Bethlehem Steel Company, Staten Island, New York; sponsored by Miss N. L. Garland, great-grandniece of Admiral Farenholt; and commissioned 2 April 1942, Lieutenant Commander E. T. Seaward in command.

Albert's Involvement

The USS Farrenholt was the ship that picked Albert up out of the water after spending two weeks in the water. Shortly after boarding the ship, it was hit by a torpedo again and Albert was sent back in the water, this time spending another week in the water.
